Swedish massage in the Inner Sunset

For a body carrying stress with no one place to point to.

Therapist Felice Daniella Acevedo
Hours By appointment only. Tuesdays and Sundays, 10am – 6pm

What it is for

Sometimes nothing is wrong in a way you could describe to a doctor. You are just wound up, sleeping badly, and holding your shoulders somewhere near your ears without noticing. There is no single spot to treat because there is no single spot.

Swedish is the session built for exactly that, and it is genuinely good at it. Long, flowing, full-body work at light to medium pressure, with no assessment, no protocol, and nothing you need to report back on. You are allowed to stop talking and fall asleep.

It is also the honest place to start if you have never had a massage and are not sure what you want. Li will tell you if something specific surfaces on the table, and then you can book the right session for it next time. Nobody needs to be sold a clinical appointment to find out whether they like being on a table.

What happens in a session

  1. A short conversation

Anything sore, anything to avoid, how you feel about pressure. Two minutes, not fifteen.

  2. Full body, or as much of it as the time allows

Back, shoulders, arms, legs, neck, scalp. Continuous and unhurried rather than region by region.

  3. Nothing asked of you

No feedback loop, no homework, no follow-up plan unless you want one. Sleeping through it is a compliment, not a problem.

Thirty minutes is a neck, shoulders and scalp session — good on a bad week, not a full reset. Fifty covers most of the body. Ninety covers all of it without rushing the end.

When this is the wrong session

  • You have a specific recurring pain you want resolved. Swedish will feel good and will not fix it — book neuromuscular therapy.
  • You are tight from heavy training and want real depth. Book deep tissue.
  • You want firm pressure throughout. Say so when you book and Li will steer you, because Swedish is not built to deliver it.

Common questions

Do I have to undress?

You undress to your level of comfort, in private, and get under the sheet before Li comes back in. You stay covered the entire session. Only the area being worked on is uncovered and it is re-covered before she moves on. Plenty of people stay in underwear, and some stay fully clothed for a thirty-minute neck and shoulder session.

I have never had a massage. Is this the right one to start with?

Yes. There is nothing you need to know, nothing you have to report, and no way to do it wrong. Book fifty minutes and see how you find it.

Is Swedish just a lighter version of deep tissue?

No, it is a different job. Deep tissue works one area slowly and deeply. Swedish works the whole body continuously at a pressure that lets your nervous system settle, which is the actual point of it.

Can I talk during the session, or should I be quiet?

Either. Some people talk the whole way through and some fall asleep in the first ten minutes. Both are normal and neither affects the work.

Not sure this is the one

Start from where it hurts instead

Pick the area that bothers you and you will get a plain explanation of what usually causes it and which session suits it — including if that session is not this one.
